Vacuum Storage System for Breastmilk

Item #: 20344

MilkBank delivers the freshest breast milk possible, and fresh breast milk is the most nutritious for your baby. Clinical tests show that any level of oxygen exposure begins to spoil breast milk. For best nutrition, freshly pumped breast milk should be fed immediately or stored in MilkBank's vacuum-sealed storage bottles for later feeding. Traditional storage methods, such as bags and bottles, trap harmful oxygen when sealed. This exposure to oxygen not only impacts the nutritional value, but can also distort the flavor, causing babies to reject stored breast milk. Choose Storage System or Storage Bottles 3-Pack (with 2.5 oz or 5 oz. bottles)

Comments about DEX Products Vacuum Storage System for Breastmilk:

I work full-time and try to be a great Mom. I used Dex Baby's MilkBank storage and milk bottles since the birth of my baby. I pumped milk, stored them in the fridge for daily use and in the freezer for emergencies (served us well especially when I got sick and didn't produce enough milk). When i went back to work, I transported the pumped milk from work to home in these bottles with travel bag & icepack that came with breastpump system.

Once baby was ready for solids and drinking out of the 8 oz bottles, I steamed or boiled basic foods, pureed and stored them in the 5 oz bottles in fridge and freezer. The airpump removes air, which was great for freshness. These are BPA free, 5 oz bottles have this orange ring on top that is a great gripper. My baby learned to hold bottle since 3 months old. these are very comfortable bottles. My baby took their nipples instantly. You will know when you need to go to the next stage nipples because baby will take longer than 7 minutes to drink. Also, my baby never had gas problems because of the anti-colic straw system that's attaches to the nipples. We handwashed everything because breastmilk is greasy where as formula isn't. Baby is now 20 months old, and we are still using the 5 oz bottles for transporting meals..we just ask for a large cup or container of hot water to heat up food. No spills, just dunk it in for a few minutes, stir and feed right out of it.

We are all very happy and feel we definitely got our money's worth. I never heard of anyone being able to use their milk bottles beyond milk bottles...I can see us using them for a few more years just before baby starts kindergarten!

IF YOU PLAN TO FEED BABY BREASTMILK IN BOTTLES, WHETHER FULL TIME OR PART TIME, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GETTING ONE STORAGE SYSTEM, TWO-THREE PACKAGES OF 5 OZ BOTTLES, AND TWO PACKAGES OF 8 OZ BOTTLES.

Comments about DEX Products Vacuum Storage System for Breastmilk:

As they say, fresh breastmilk retains more nutrients than frozen. We use a pump for our wine and it's a noticeable difference so no brainer getting this for breastmilk storage. Glad Dex came up with this idea. Had been freezing breastmilk storage bags till found this product. Now, I don't have to worry about waste from disposable storage bags.

Using 5oz storage bottles for bottle feeding and 2.5 oz bottles for mixing into cereal. Using rule of 6 (6hrs/room temp, 6 days/back of fridge, 6 months/back of freezer). Using Evenflo labels available through OneStepAhead to label bottles with pump date and use/freeze by date. So, whatever I don't use within 6 days, I freeze.

Can't speak for feeding bottle yet. Having trouble getting 5 month old to take ANY bottle/nipple (Born Free, Adiri, Breastflow, Tommee Tippee, Mimijumi, Milk Bank, etc.). Though I can pump more than 5oz in a sitting (yeah, I know, I'm lucky), I'm presently storing 3oz in 5oz bottles for bottle feeding and 1oz in 2.5 oz bottles for cereal.

I'm hoping once he starts accepting bottles, I can just use Milk Bank's feeding bottles. Even if I don't use for feeding, I'm definitely using this for storage and heating milk. Will then pour into whatever container son will eventually accept for bottle feeding and for mixing into cereal.

LaLeche recommends storing in 2-4oz quantities to reduce waste. However, if son does take bottle and drinks larger quantities, I may get 8oz feeding bottles to store larger quantities at a time. I found out all Milk Bank caps (feeding/storage) fit on all their bottle sizes (2.5oz, 5oz, 8oz). So, I may buy 8oz feeding bottles for when need to store larger quantities at a time. Minor inconvenience is having to call manufacturer directly to order additional individual storage caps. They're not yet available for order through any other means.
