    We got this ship for our 4 year old for Christmas. Both he and his 18 mo old brother enjoy playing with it. Great for imaginative play. We have not had the problems with quality that the other reviewers have commented on. I love the wood materials and it feels like an heirloom quality toy. Very cute details and accessories. The only issue we had was the hinge did not line up with the holes on one side, a drill fixed that problem quickly. Overall a great toy but Kidkraft could pay a little more attention to the hinge fitting properly.

    This ship is great for imaginative play. My son plays with it for hours. Unfortunately the ship has broken in two places so far. We had to super-glue the side of the ship that is not supposed to open up, but is hinged. That part broke after it was assembled, but before we even gave it to our son. Also the ladder broke while he was engaged in play. Still our son cherishes his pirate ship.

          The hinge came apart from the ship when my child picked it up under the tree! (It was secured by the clip on the other side)We glued super glued it to try and save his present Christmas morning. Later when picking up the ship to put in our car the clip on the other side broke in two pieces. It was picked up twice and broke twice. Luckily it came with two pirates that my son loved and played with instead. We will be returning this ship. So disappointed!
