This is a wonderful gate. Looks nice in our home. The arch in the gate goes perfert with the arch in the entry way. The color was perfect with our walls. It looks like it was designed just for our home. After looking for the perfect gate for a couple of years our search is over

Comments about Summer Infant Sure & Secure Metal Expansion Gate for Wide Doors:

I was disappionted in the construction of this gate. I feel the bottom bar that you have to step over makes this model extremely unsafe, especially using on a stairway. So many gates are made like this now and I cannot understand why. For the time I had this gate up, which was 1 day before returning it, 2 people tripped over this bottom bar. I understand thats how the gate gets its support but someone needs to come up with a better design. I did not purchase this gate here, but the same one at a local chain. I purchased this gate because of the auto-close feature.

Comments about Summer Infant Sure & Secure Metal Expansion Gate for Wide Doors:

The only con I can see at this time, is that it is hard to open the gate while holding my squirmy son in my arms. Otherwise, its great. He is alost 9 months old. He climbs right up into a standing position holding the gate and shakes it, and it doesn't budge. It is also tall enough that I don't have to worry about him climbing over it. If my hands were free of squirmy baby, the door works great.

Comments about Summer Infant Sure & Secure Metal Expansion Gate for Wide Doors:

We searched far and wide for a gate that would fit our wide opening. This was the only one we found and we were hesitant for a while, but once we got it, we were pleasantly surprised at every turn.

Easy to install, compliments our decor with a beige finish (not bright white!), the gate swings both directions . . .

The feature I was most pleasantly surprised with is that it is able to be removed from the mounting hardware easily and then replaced, so if we need to move furniture through the large doorway we don't have to lift it over the gate!

Comments about Summer Infant Sure & Secure Metal Expansion Gate for Wide Doors:

We used it in the archway to keep our 14 month out of the "other" living room. Its great because it was easy to put up & use, and looks nice (not like your typical bulky plasic gate). The only thing that isnt so great is that we have it streached to 70 inches & even though it can go to 72 inches,at this length it is very wabbly. So if my daughte gets to shaking on it Im afraid that it will pull on the screws and tear up the wall.

Comments about Summer Infant Sure & Secure Metal Expansion Gate for Wide Doors:

We bought this gate when our son started crawling to fit the 6-foot doorway to the big kids' playroom. He liked to pull himself up on it and shake the bars. Within 2 months one of the wall attachments had broken off, and within 4 months one of the bars had snapped off at the bottom. And he's not even a year old yet! This gate in no way, shape, or form holds up to an active baby's curiousity, and I shudder to think how fast it would have broken if he were older and heavier. What a waste of money.

Our house has a lot of stairs and we had so much difficulty with stair gates that we really appreciated how easy this one was to install. It is perfect for the over-sized doorway we needed it for. It is easy to open/close and will stay open on it's own when we do not need it closed. My son climbs up on it and it has a little give but I wouldn't consider it flimsy. It is also attractive looking for a baby gate.

When the product arrived, the box was open. Hardware was missing and there were no instructions. However, [...]] It took my husband quite a bit of time to put this gate together and my husband actually builds furniture for a living. FYI Anyone wanting to buy this gate needs to know that you have to drill holes in your walls in order to secure this gate.I am happy with the gate itself though. It is good quality and easy to use. My son is 11 months old and this gate has come in handy. Our chihuahua can go under the gate but our son can't so it's perfect.

We needed a very wide gate with a door, and this one fit the bill. It's very attractive and easy to use. When my husband put it together, one of the plastic pieces snapped off, but it didn't seem to make a big difference.

The wall-mounting was a bit difficult, but overall I really like this gate.

We got this to keep our Pug contained in the kitchen area. It works great, but you do need a few days to adjust to opeing the gate, although it is just a matter of a little practice. All three kids are pros now (youngest is 8). Plus, it will lift off it's base if you ever need to take it down temporarily. It looks nice and is sturdy enough for our purposes. It would also work well for toddlers and babies.
