We use this system inside exam room doors. While parents are talking with examiner the little ones always try to escape! Our doors don't lock on the inside so this was a perfect solution.

Comments about Dorel Juvenile Group Lever Handle Door Safety Lock:

These are wonderful! I was excited to try these but was a bit apprehaneisve because of some negative reviews. I'm glad I decided to purchase anyway. They were extremely easy to install. There was absolutely no need to remove the door handle itself, as others have suggested. I followed the directions exactly, and cleaned the area on the door first before installation. I've had them on my doors for almost 6 months now and they have never fallen off, or are close. Still as strong as the day I put them on.

I can see how if your door handle is too close to the edge of the door/door frame, they may be a bit too large as these are fairly large and bulky. But you won't know that until you try I guess.

Overall, I am very happy with the purchase and would definitely buy again.

I bought several of these locks for my lever handles but they do not fit the handle. The lock is very wide and I was not able to slide it around my handle to put it in place.

I put this on my door leading to my garage because my daughter kept wanting to run out and greet Daddy when he got home from work, while he was backing the car into the garage. It is the best [$] I've ever spent because it will probably save her life more than once. It was very easy to install and has held up really nicely so far.

Comments about Dorel Juvenile Group Lever Handle Door Safety Lock:

The best thing to do is replace lever door handles with round knobs and use the traditional safety door locks that work great on round knobs until your kid is old enough to realize the dangers of "exploring" outside on their own. Since we are renting, we are trying to use this product but it has not been put to the full 2.5 year old test because she has not tried to escape yet and has not noticed it to have it tempt her, so we will see if it stands up to true "usage". It does not seem like a true deterrent but more of a "slow her down" type of product so I can hear her attempts to escape the front door (which at this point, would be helpful!)

We ordered this latch and decided that we didn't want to use the adhesive on our wood. Called One Step and told them that they had another lock that we thought would work better. It is the Safety 1ST No Drill Top of the Door Lock.
They sent us a return label, and mailed the other lock immediately. This lock can be put on and taken off if you wish; plus you can open the door from either side. The customer service was excellant. They were courtious and sooo helpful. I love this new lock and One Step Ahead. I would give this lock and One Step 5 Stars.

Comments about Dorel Juvenile Group Lever Handle Door Safety Lock:

The lever doorknob on the bathroom door was the first knob our child learned to use. I saw this product and thought--aha! A solution!

Unfortunately, although this was super-easy to install, once installed properly, the door could not close. The diameter of this cover was so large that it blocked the door from fitting into the doorframe. I ended up finding a toilet seat lock that fit our toilet, so now I just leave the door open.

So, if you come to my house and use the bathroom, beware: A curious toddler is likely to walk in on you unless you lock the door.

I've tried other lever locks. My 20 month old could easily pull them open to get into our garage/outside. This lever lock is very easy to install and use. Although my daughter can't open it, it is easy enough for my four-year-old to open in case of an emergency. I have two locks: one for the door into my basement and one for the door into the garage. I might purchase one for the pantry closet too. They look nice with the nickel handles too....not white plastic. Well worth the money.

Comments about Dorel Juvenile Group Lever Handle Door Safety Lock:

I have the Kidco Toilet Lid (swing-arm) devices on both toilets and I LOVE THEM! The problem was that I have a forgetful 4 year old and the lever door handles made it very easy for my 18 month old twin boys to go in and "swim" in the toilets (R.I.P. Droid phone). So I bought 2 of these covers for our bathroom door handles (I rent so drilling holes is NOT an option). First one works great and the boys cannot get in but it's still easy enough for my 3 daughters to operate. The one on my master bathroom door doesn't quite fit. The door handle is closer to the threshold which makes it impossible to close the door from the inside. So if we want privacy we now have to train ourselves to lock our bedroom door. The adhesive works great and is strong (mind you my doors don't have any kind of grain on them - they are flat). But I do wish the device was a bit slimmer to account for this problem. It certainly beats having to give my boys multiple baths a day for playing in the toilets. I still recommend the product for any family with adventurous toddlers.
