LEAP FROG TEXT AND LEARN

Comments about LeapFrog Text & Learn:
WE GAVE THIS TOY TO OUR 3 YEAR OLD GRANDSON. HE DID LIKE IT; ALTHOUGH, HE WILL NEED SOMEONE TO USE IT WITH HIM TO SHOW HIM HOW TO USE IT. WHEN HE HAD SOMEONE HELPING HIM USE IT, HE ENJOYED IT & I BELIEVE A YOUNG CHILD CAN BENEFIT FROM ITS USE. AN ADULT, OR OLDER CHILD WILL NEED TO HELP INTRODUCE IT TO A 3 YEAR OLD, HOWEVER.

My two year old loves this toy! I use it for a "car only toy" expect if you drive at night (which we don't very often ) It does NOT have a back-light so its no good at night. Besides that It has held up for almost a year now. Has 2 volume levels which I love and He has found games I did not even know were on there.

Fun toy

About Me First Time Parent
My daughter received this for her second birthday, she is now four and still enjoys playing with this, even though she has since received a new hand held game. This really helped her with learning letters and their sounds. We're still working with it to begin forming words (the texting part). Very engaging, and helps keep her busy when we're doing a lot of errands or taking a trip out of town.
I am returning them
By Donna

Bought them for two - 3 year olds and I am returning them. My 7 year old granddaugher (dsi and leapster savy) tried to help us figure them out. She got so frustrated with it she gave up just like the adults did. I have replaced them with other gifts and am returning. I trusted the Leapster (Usually good)name and was disappointed.

Lacking one thing!!

I gave this to my daughter for her 3rd birthday. She loves the toy and takes it everywhere, she even calls it her "list." Right now it is a little hard for her to play beacuse she doesn't know all her letters and phonics but she doesn't realize that, has fun anyway. The one thing that it is lacking is number buttons. It does numbers in one of the games, but it doesn't show the numbers in order or in buttons so she can push them and have them spoken to her. Overall it is a good, durable toy.
My 2 year old loves this
By Danforth

He calls it his "green computer", and we bring it everywhere we go. It keeps him entertained, in the car, in his crib when we want a few extra ZZZ's in the morning, and basically any time of day. It only does a few different things, but our son LOVES it. He's been playing with it for a month now. We got it as a gift, and are pleasantly surprised at what a success it has been!

This "blackberry" is hysterical. My 2 year old daughter loves to check her email. It is a great resource and well worth the money. It will travel well and there are 2 volume modes so it won't be too overpowering in a small space.

Mom gets to keep phone!

About Me Child Care Professional, Medical Professional, Parent of Two or More Children
We received it yesterday and my daughter immediately wanted to start "texting" the character in the toy. He will send you a text that is read aloud and you can text back (even if the words do not make sense - ex. zdlefisnso), it does not respond to your text or read it aloud but that's a great thing because it keeps from my daughter being frustrated. There is a calendar that you can go through (days of the week only) and it tells you what could be happening on that day. Bubble pop and shape maze is great. You can view pictures of the letters, listen to the sounds, and it tells and shows examples of the words. This is definitely something to buy if your child is always grabbing your cell phone and wanting to play and "text" like mine does. It is as tall as a graphing calculator and as wide (maybe a little wider) than a palm pilot. It is not bulky, but sturdy for little hands. I highly recommend this to any child.
