Kids Wooden Training Bike

Item #: 14123

Ready to help your child develop better balance? Take a tip from European parents — give him an ingenious "run bike." Smarter than pedaled bikes with training wheels, because it teaches kids to stabilize themselves (instead of doing it for them). Gets kids biking faster! Crafted of solid birch, with inflatable rubber tires, a padded seat, and rubberized handlebar grips. A terrific deal, too; comparable run bikes start at $250. For ages 3 and up, up to 66 lbs. Syles may vary.

This was given to us as a gift and was promptly returned. Save your money and do it yourself. Just buy a normal bike sized correctly for your child. Grab a wrench and take the pedals off so they can learn to balance. Once they have the balance down, grab the wrench and put the pedals back on. We found this idea on YouTube. Our 6 yr old daughter balanced in just two days and was riding solo while pedaling within one week. She used the bike with pedals for 2 years before we had to buy a bigger bike.

My 4 yr old as really loves this bike. He has a bike with training wheels, but this product has really helped him with the concept of balancing on his bike. Thanks to the balance bike he should be able to ride his bike next summer without training wheels and have a lot fewer bruises. It is a little big for my 30 month old...but I am sure he will ride it next summer.

Comments about Weeplay Kids Wooden Training Bike:

We got this bike for my son who is 3 yrs 8 months. In addition to this one, we got him the Y-bike that's listed on onestepahead because he was always borrowing the Y-bike. Since this one arrived, he rarely touches the Y-bike (which my daughter, 1 yr 8 months now rides!) The best feature about this bike is the rubber tires, which allow the bike to grip the road/driveway. The Y-bike, and other riding toys we've seen/owned have plastic tires and they slip all over the place, making the Y-bike a little dangerous once your kid starts riding faster and turning. My son rides this bike pretty much everyday. It is just the right height for him at its lowest setting, but I imagine we will be raising the seat soon. Within just a couple of days of riding this, he was coasting and balancing and turning without putting his feet down. I would definitely recommend this to other kids in the 3-4+ range... probably a little tall for younger kids, and small for older kids. The only thing I did not like is that the screws that hold it together started rusting very quickly. We take it inside each night, but happened to leave it outside for a day or two and there's a little rust around each screw.

Comments about Weeplay Kids Wooden Training Bike:

This little bike is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Our 2 year old grandson took off on it the minute he unwrapped it last Christmas and within minutes he was balancing himself without even realizing it. He is now three and absolutley loves his "dirt bike" as he calls it. He is the envy of all the other little ones in our neighborhood. He races around and glides on this bike with ease. The adjustable seat allows the bike to grow with him. The bike has been well ridden, tossed around by a little one, and tranferred from house to house in the back of the car. It still runs as smooth as silk and looks brand new.

My son just LOVES his 'balance bike'! He flies around the neighborhood! It's hard to keep up with him! He started off riding it around the kitchen since he got it for Christmas and it was too cold to go outside. He really got the hang of the whole balance thing, and he got faster and faster. Now we have to run to keep up! The only problem is, the seat is now raised at the highest level and it's still not high enough! My son is tall for a 3 year old, but still, I would think this kind of bike would be good for kids up to five probably and should have a much higher seat. When he rode it yesterday, he said his legs hurt and he didn't want to ride it anymore. He's just too tall for it now. They need to make a seat that goes higher and then I would give this 5 stars! His little heart was just broken that he couldn't ride it anymore! He didn't even get a whole year out of it!

Comments about Weeplay Kids Wooden Training Bike:

Much less scary for small children than a high bike with training wheels and pedals. My daughter was afraid of big bikes, but took to this one easily. She felt more in control with her own feet on the ground. This version looks updated from the one we bought 2 years ago. The wooden handle decorations popped off easily, but this new version has rubber grips. Much better for when the kid lets go of the bike and it crashes over to the pavement. Julia is almost 5 and is showing interest in getting a pedal bike now. This has been a great gradual step toward pedaling a two-wheeler independantly.

We bought this bike for our two year old, and he loves it! He has no trouble reaching the ground on the lowest setting, and immediately begin propelling himself along. He hasn't been able to work up enough speed to coast yet, but I'm certain that he will - probably within a week or two. This is a wonderful toy!

We put it together in five minutes flat - no trouble at all. It's solidly constructed, and I don't worry about him breaking it.

                        Highly recommended!

We got this for our recently-turned-3 son last Christmas. He enjoyed walking it around the house when it was cold, but it really came into its own when weather was warm. Our son really took to running the bike down the sidewalk and can now balance & coast well. We're thinking he will graduate to a pedaled bike for his upcoming birthday, but this one allowed him to get the hang of balance without worrying about pedaling & braking. Of course you have to use (add) a helmet & pads as with any wheeled sport. This one will be passed down to brother for him to practice on. We've had a lot of good use from this product.

This is the first bike my son as ever riden. He was 1 1/2 when he started and within days he was flying down the sidewalk. He will never need training wheels thanks to this bike. The seat height was a little to tall for his age but we were able to drill an extra hole and bring the seat down more than the original holes that were provided.

It is not packaged well and therefore gets damaged in shipping. I had to have three delivered before I got one that wasn't broken, but it was worth the trouble.

Really learn how to ride a bike--without training wheels.A boy down the street from us got this bike when he was 2 and now he rides a regular big kid bike 1 year later! He's a real pro--like I hope my daughter will be in a year. We gave her this bike on her 2 year birthday

The concept is great but I got this bike for my daughters 3rd b-day & she was really disappointed that she couldn't pedal. Also, it doesn't turn as good as a regular bike. We might return it or keep it for my son who is 16 months.
