You have to speak directly into a very small hole in order for your voice to be amplified. It was difficult for me, so I can't imagine how a child would do it. Also, it was not very loud. This microphone was a huge disappointment. I am returning it.

This is a great toy for kids and is even in a high quality display box. It amplifies the voice and records, but don't expect professional quality; it is a toy.

I read other reviews about volume of the amplified of the microphone. But they said it has a volume knot at the end of the microphone that you need to turn to adjust the volume. So I thought the adjusting knot would solve the problem, also since I have twins and they always loud I thought even the volume is a little soft, it still be fine for us (less headach!!:)). But I have to agree with other reviews that the amplify doesn't work at all. There was no different when they sing with or without the microphone. I tried the volume knot, but it only effect the music. I bought 2 and they both work the same (no voice amplified at all). So disappointed!

Disappointed. The product itself didn't "wow" me. Then I found it at [@] for 10.00 cheaper! (without shipping). It's very hard for a toddler - they have to have their mouth all the way around the microphone to hear any sound. The volume works fine. You have to hold a button down to use the microphone, which 2-3 yrs olds don't always understand or remember. The buttons are too close - he would try to talk and the record or music button would turn on instead. Returned the product.

My 21 month old daughter loves this microphone! There are features that she is too young to use now (tempo control, volume, hold button for amplifying her voice), but that only means she will be able to grow into this toy. She can press the button to play the music and pretends to sing, which keeps her and me entertained. There is also a record button for me to record personal messages to her. The only problem is it is very easy for her to hit the record button and erase my message. It has become her "go-to" toy these days.

The amplification does not work at all and the songs are so quiet that at max volume, it is still almost impossible to hear - it looks great but i was super disappointed and my children dont use it all

The kids love it so much that they fight over it and we should have bought one for each of them instead of one to share.

It's going to be a holiday present so we haven't given it to our 2-year-old daughter yet. She'll like the music and being able to sing along and record her singing, I think. I was just surprised that it's really quiet. It doesn't amplify the voice very much at all and the recording is really quiet too. We'll see how she likes it when she tries it.
