          Purchased for year old twin grandchildren. Base is very narrow, causing bead abacus to tip very easily. Grandson very active, stands beside and it topples very easy, not a good toy for him.

                The ALPHABET "ABACUS" is a big hit. My toddler grandson really enjoys it, manipulating the blocks, speaking the pictures and letters etc. as he knows them. The only drawback I can think of, which would apply to many toys and other objects, is that it can be thrown by a two year old having a temper tantrum, and as it is made of wood, it can do some damage. But this is not really a fault -- an abacus built a little like a sandwich board must be sturdy, and it is. It looks as if it will still be operative for the younger sister in about a year.

                The BEAD ABACUS will be a Christmas present for another grandchild who may be a bit too young for it yet -- she is under 1 year. She is by parentage mathematically inclined, so we think this will be a good fit for her.
