I Can Spell! Alphabet Puzzle

Item #: 08706

This heirloom puzzle makes a great teacher. Hungry young minds are ready to spell before their hands are ready to write! This engaging puzzle gets them started, while building coordination and recognition skills. First, little ones learn to place each letter in its space (each 3" letter is raised for easier handling). Then, they'll learn their colors and ABCs. Finally, they'll use the letter tray to start making words (includes 45 word cards for inspiration). And our solid wood puzzle is so well made, your child may pass it along to her child! Ages 3 and up.

Comments about Tag Toys I Can Spell! Alphabet Puzzle:

This letter set is large and clunky yet the word cards are flimsy and easily destructible. Also, there is only one of each letter so spelling words with repeat letters is impossible. I saw many reviews that warned about the word cards but decided this puzzle looked good so wanted to try for myself.... I should have listened to the reviews and saved myself [...]. I've gone back to using stick-up bath letters to play fun word games with my son.

Comments about Tag Toys I Can Spell! Alphabet Puzzle:

It's the best Alphabet Puzzle we've had to date. It's heavy/big enough that it doesn't get hauled around the house and lost. I wish there was a pocket or something for the word cards, they're pretty useless for my 4 year old b/g twins. I wish the vowels were their own color since they made the letters different colors to begin with. My son is excited to spell his name over and over (we've had it for almost a year and he still does it). My daughter has repeating leter so she was disappointed she couldn't spell her name. At this age the actual process of teaching spelling gets pretty boring for them quickly but they love to pretend spell words and show me so I'm happy that they enjoy experiencing the letters and I'm willing to let real spelling come into play when they're older and in School. I wish you could purchase additional letters so my daughter could write her name too without having to buy a whole other heavy board and useless cards. I would totally buy this for a friend's kid as a gift or recommend this to friends and family. This is one of those toys that will be put away for my children's children.

My daughter knew some letters but not all of them. After a few time with this puzzle she has them memorized (and we tried all sorts of other things to accomplish this and nothing else did the trick). We aren't making words yet but she likes to put in the letters and can do them upside down.

Comments about Tag Toys I Can Spell! Alphabet Puzzle:

We LOVE this toy! My 3 year old son received this as a gift for Christmas and has played with it TONS since then! He knows many of his letters already, so he can use this with little or no guidance from me. When I make supper, my son sits at the table and spells words, while I get supper made. If he gets stuck, I can help him, but otherwise, he does it on his own. My 18 month old daughter loves to play with the letters and they are so big, I don't work about her choking on them.
I wish the cards were laminated so they were more durable. They would stand up better on the letter stand if they were laminated. I also wish there were more cards. It would also be helpful if there was someplace to store the cards on the board somewhere. These are the only reasons I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.
Overall though, this is a FABULOUS toy. The letters are big, sturdy, and durable. My kids LOVE it! Totally worth the money!

Comments about Tag Toys I Can Spell! Alphabet Puzzle:

My 2 yr. old daughter loves puzzles and this was a good one b/c it teaches her the alphabet at the same time. However, my problem with it is it is TOO big and bulky and the place where you can put the letters standing up to spell words -- it is flimsy and not well thought out -- my kids had a hard time trying to jam the letters into the bar and then some of the letters split (the wood split). plus, when they want to spell things like their names there weren't any duplicate letters -- that option should be offered up front so it could be ordered at the same time.

Comments about Tag Toys I Can Spell! Alphabet Puzzle:

I bought the Name Puzzle for my 2 year old in December 2008, it was a hit! Then I came across this and I had to have it for him. He plays with it at least 3 times a week. It is colorful, sturdy and educational. It provides endless fun without pressure to learn. Little ones cannot go wrong with this. Not only does it teach spelling it also teaches color recognition!

My daughter loves this toy! She is very proud of herself for being able to spell. She picks the letters puts them in place and we sound it out together. This is a wonderful learning toy. Highly recommended. You can also teach colors, puzzle/hand eye coordination, and basic letter recognition. So this will work well with your 1 yr old all the way up to your 4 yr old if not a bit longer. Great quality.

This is one of the most amazing toys EVER. Our son is only 2 1/2 and won't stop playing with it. It has honestly taught him to spell! The only drawback is there is only one of every letter and there aren't enough cards.
