I think any bouncer is useful for those first 3,4 months where all your infant does is, well...sleep, poo & eat. While the instructions indicate not to pick the bouncer up by the "overhang" (with little birds on it), we did. As it was useful the bouncer is light & easy to move (from one area to another) with one hand while holding our little one in the other hand. She was captivated by the birds, which suprised me due to the subdued colors (they seemed boring to me), seemed to like the nautre sounds (tweeting, frogs ribbeting) but wasn't much into bouncing! She cried whenever the music came on...didn't blame her, we found it dreary. Some may find it soothng for "sleep time". About a year later, she has outgrown the purpose of the bouncer, but now uses it as a "Papasan" chair. We needed to add a pillow behind it to help her stay more propped up (as most babies like to sit up & take everything in). She likes to press the buttons, sit in it with her bottle.
If I had to do it all over again, I would probably go for the Rainforest bouncer for the early months as she was much more entertained & actually bounced in that one. Regardless, we like the snugabuny & it is still useful.

This is what got us through the first few weeks at home. The baby loved the bouncing and vibrations; the music is even pleasant. It was also fantastic when she realized she could bounce herself in the seat, and the bird mobile always seemed fascinating. Was even good to sleep in when she had a stuffy nose.
