I bought one and it didn't work. In order for it to stay in the doorway without falling over I had to tighten it so much that the gate wouldn't open. The company sent me a second and it has the same problem. Now I have 2 non functioning gates in my garage and can't get a refund until the shipping labels show ip in the mail. It's been a week so far...I bought a gate from another company on line and the gate got here before my return labels, and this gate works perfectly!

Gate is definitely tall enough but not wide enough or sturdy enough. I have an opening that is 61" wide and bought the 24" extension to fit a 62.5" opening. With the screws out, almost, all the way the gate doesn't open. If you unscrew the tension to release the gate so you can open it the gate is flimsy and doesn't stay upright. So glad I haven't screwed it into the wall, yet. Will definitely return the product.

Purchased this gate to keep my 3 yr old grandson from getting out of the bedroom area when everone is sleeping. The opening we used is wide enough that I have to have the screws stretched out all the way and this makes the gate a little less sturdy than I would like. It is attractive and the latch is easy enough for adults to open but difficult enough for creative toddlers to not figure it out. Overall I am pleased with this purchase but this is my second gate in this same area. The first one I purchased eventually bent (a different company/brand) so I hope this gate lasts.

We had a tricky spot at the top of the stairs. One wall is a textured wallpaper that we didn't want to drill into. We needed a tall gate so we could put it one step down from the top of the stairs and still be tall enough. We had a banister to work around and only wanted to anchor it on one side. Ths gate fit and works perfectly!!! It's easy to set up. It's easy to opn with one hand which is great as well! The opening is very narrow. My husband and I are average width people. He has to turn sideways every time he walks through it. I have to turn sideways if I am carrying anything. I would recommend this gate, but with the caution that the opening is very narrow.

This is a great extra tall gate. The problem is the width of the actual gate to walk through. It is way too narrow. I am a size 5 and I had to turn sideways when walking thru the gate, especially when holding my son.

The gate is placed in front of the kitchen to prevent my two toddlers from getting access, but my 3 yr old has no problem figuring out how to unlock the gate! It works great for my 2 yr old and we've been using it for about one year now. It IS on the other hand a very sturdy gate and the white color looks great against the kitchen wall. The height is perfect! My 3-yr-old daughter is very tall, but she was unable to climb and hang from the gate, unlike other lower height gates.

had 2 of these a few years ago. have since moved out of state. tried 2 different gates from local stores. returned them and ordered another of these from One Step Ahead. nothing compares.

This is a great gate. My only comment to the contrary is that the "door" is a little narrow. My husband and I are of average build and we have to go through side-ways while carrying our son.

We use this gate to keep our toddler out of her infant sisters room while she sleeps. It works like a charm. She can see in but not enter anytime she desires.

We installed 2 of our 3 gates last night for our 18 month old son who climbs EVERYTHING! It works great in the doorway of our playroom. We also placed it our downstairs hallway that is wide. We used one extension for a correct fit. It is not as sturdy with the extension. Adding the extensions makes it "wobbly" where the extension attaches to the primary gate. I think it will hold up. The best part of the gate is that my climbing son cannot go over the top as he has all other gates.

The gate is fine, but we had to screw it into the wall because it would not stay put. The opening part of the gate is ridiculously small. I am a heavy set woman and I have got to turn to the side and squeeze myself through the gate. And I am pregnant now, so I don't imagine even being able to get through the gate after my belly begins to expand. This was the major downpoint for me. I wish that the opening was 4-6 inches wider so that bigger people can fit through without hurting themselves. Also, I think the cost is a bit much for the gate.

I needed something to keep my twins out of the kitchen but I have a very wide opening. I bought this extra tall gate and extension. It works great. It is very strudy, fairly easy to install, and it much taller than my girls. It is actually taller than I thought. The only improvement that I would make is to make the door wider. Being that it is so tall, my husband and I have to go through it sideways (especially if we are carrying something/one). But that's not a big deal to me.

First of all, we bought this gate because it was advertised in the catalog as being pressure mountable in addition to also being hardware mountable. We were searching for a reliable extra tall gate to keep our 2-year-old in his room during nap time and bedtime. When we first got the gate, we were incredibly upset to see that in the directions there was only instructions on how to hardware mount it. We contemplated not using it at all, but seriously needed something. Assuming it would do what we wanted and needed it to do, we put the holes in the door frame. Within 24 hours of owning it and having it up - our son figured out the latch at the top as well as the fact that there is no good way of locking the things on the side that tighten it to make it fit in the doorway properly. Now we have a cabinet lock locking it closed each time we need it. We are actively looking for a replacement gate at this time and will be pursuing returning this to OSA as it is TOTALLY NOT worth the money, the time, the holes in the doorframe that we will now forever have or the headache it has caused!

I wanted a gate that my 4 yr old son could walk through (instead of climb over) that his twin brothers wouldn't be able to access. Within an hour they (twins) figured out the latch mechanism & also they turned and loosened the knobs that tightens the gate, so there was no pressure against the wall, which holds the gate up. My husband placed 2 nuts behind the knobs, so the knobs would just spin (not loosen) and I added a security lock to the top, so they can't lift up on the latch. With a few of our own clever modifications....so far, so good.

We purchased this for our very tall 2 1/2 year old bed room when she moved to her big girl bed. Easy to use my daughter can open and close it but once it is locked she cant open it. Works great for a mom who's husband works night...great peace of mind.

You do have to screw into the door the stopers so it doesnt slip when pushed...but very easy to install by myself (the mom).

Would reccomend!
