Comments about Parent Units Dvd Guard:

As many other reviewers mentioned, this DVD guard is not very sturdy and my 10 month old can apply enough pressure to activate the DVD buttons. However, the velcro is strong enough to stop the DVD tray from opening when she does hit the button which was our primary goal. Once she's strong enough to pull off the velcro it will be useless. It's a decent stop gap measure.

Comments about Parent Units Dvd Guard:

I loved the idea of this, but the actual item disappoints...the part that goes under the machine is too short and too easy to pull off...may just be my grandson, 13 months old, but it took him about 2 minutes to get it off ..the Velcro maybe should be longer, and it should go further under the DVD ...thanks for the opportunity to complain...

Comments about Parent Units Dvd Guard:

This product is a good idea, but it doesn't work. We bought it to prevent our toddler from turning the Blu-ray player on. We put this guard up in front of it, but for one, if she pushes hard enough on the plastic, she can still get the button pushed in, and two, it's not that hard for her to just move the guard to the side. It comes with velcro to keep it in place, but she managed to get around that as well.

Comments about Parent Units Dvd Guard:

The Velcro is so strong. When you try to remove the guard to put in a disc both sides of the Velcro come off. So, the glue is weaker than the Velcro. Very strange design. I would like the company to use the same type of Velcro that they use on the TV buttons cover.

Comments about Parent Units Dvd Guard:

We have a few of these in use in our home because our son was pushing buttons on any TV/DVD player that had buttons within reach. These are a useful deterrent and work well with the machines that we have that are within the realm of his button pushing fingers.

Comments about Parent Units Dvd Guard:

This would be a great product if only the plastic were heavier gauge. It's so bendy that my toddler can push the plastic shield and still work the buttons of the DVD/VHS player underneath. The velcro is very strong, as is the adhesive, so he can't pull the shield off. At least it keeps him from putting stuff in the DVD or VHS slots, and for this purpose we continue to use it. It would just be better if he couldn't turn the machine on, press play, etc.

Comments about Parent Units Dvd Guard:

I bought this for my 8 month old. He kept pushing the blu-ray buttons and can open the blu-ray disc slot. I also bought a 2nd one to cover the cable box. The guards helps deter him, but he pulls it right off. I put it back on and we go around in circles. However, it does sorta keep him from getting to it until he pulls it right off.
If they made the guard MUCH longer- about 12 inches, it would perform a lot better. Only think I could find on the market, so it works for now... kinda ;)

My 21 month old son loves to push the buttons on our cable box while his sister is watching TV. This product has kept him from doing so. I don't need to fix the channels all the time and my daughter can watch a show without interuption. And, it's very easy to install.

My DVR has raised buttons. All a kid has to do is press on the plastic gaurd and presto! Volume rises, channels change, etc. I read the negative reviews but still decided to roll the dice. Mistake.

We bought this because our children kept turning the TV off and then crying because their cartoons were gone. I took the advice of other reviews and installed it when the kids were in bed but our 18 month old still figured out how to remove it. I thought it would have been impossible with how heavy our TV is, I could barely lift it. Also, when installed they could still push the guard and turn off the TV because our buttons stick out. We are currently in the process of making some changes to it and trying again. The product is definately worth a try for the price, especially since all kids aren't as destructive as mine.

Comments about Parent Units Dvd Guard:

My husband and I purchased two of these with the hopes that we would be able to keep our son away from the DVD and Auxiliary components, and it did...for about a week. He figured it out, and off it came every time he was anywhere near it. Thankfully after about two weeks he was no longer interested in it.

Thats when my now 14 month old took interest, and she's already figured out how to take it off and press ALL the buttons on the components. Its been months, and she is still intrigued and continues to take it off. = ( Unfortunately for us, the time to return them has past and we are stuck with them. They seem like a good idea, but they are certainly NOT for people with curious, persistent toddlers.

My daughter was driving my husband and I crazy opening and closing the DVD player and constantly turning the cable box on and off. Since we placed these guards over them she has lost interest. I agree with others that the plastic is flimsy and I'm sure she'll either break them eventually or figure out how to pull off the velcro but, until then, it's nice to not have the t.v.. turned on and off while we're trying to watch it.
