This gate is the absolute BEST gate available for a standard size, top-of-stairs application, where you can wall-mount on both sides! We tried other gates (three of them to be exact) and ended up returning them for one reason or another. Then we found this gate and LOVE IT! This gate has easy install directions. The gate is very sturdy. The gate swings open providing ample space to pass through (unlike the others we bought). This gate has no bottom bar to step over, which is a safety hazard in itself. It locks shut and you can see that it is locked shut with the color coding. The light is another plus. The price was comparable and actually a little less expensive than the others we tried. Basically every problem we encountered with the other gates we bought were solved once we found this gate. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. Save yourself the confusion and trouble that we went through!
