Doesn't Last because of adhesive

Comments about Prince Lionheart Childproof Adjustable Stove Guard:
I bought this item for my toddler. Didn't last very long because it hold up using an adhesive. After it wears out it does not last because it doesn't hold up.
Love this!

About Me Parent of Two or More Children
As a nurse and mom of 7 (including 3 stepchildren) all 9 and under. I have had this guard in two of our homes. I love it. It keeps little ones safe without having to constantly worry where every little hand is while preparing dinner in our home.
I had high hopes...

It's a good idea but needs work. Ours lasted about 3 weeks before it melted and fell off the stove. I'd send it back but the return shipping would probably cost me more than I paid for it.Save your money and shop for something else. This won't save your little one's fingers from the stovetop.Sorry.

Does not work!

I bought this item to prevent my son to reach the stove, but the stickers that comes with it are too cheap and it fell in one week of use.
Not so great for gas stove tops
By Mandy
from Maryland
We have a friend who has this and it seemed like a great prevention tool so we bought it. Unfortunately the tape has not held in place. We think this may be because we have a gas stove top and the heat has kept it from sticking. Woud love it if they would come up with a similar product that sticks more securely. Best prevention is still keeping the kids out ofthe kitchen.
Tape on a hot stove...brilliant idea
By Kathleen
from Las Vegas
This worked great for the first few months, I liked the way it adjusted and it didn't get in the way when I cook. But, whoever thought that putting tape on a stove that will get hot and melt the glue, wasn't thinking. It has been slowly melting off, getting crumbs trapped on the tape. Also, the grease that sticks to the plastic is terrible. Sure, it is removable...but it is not easy to get the thick plastic back into the tight clips. They should give you extra tape to replace the melted tape, or sell replacement tape on a website. I tried posterboard adhesive and that failed miserably, so i will try the outdoor double sided tape. If that doesn't work, the guard is trash.

Perfect
By Des

This was exactly what I was looking for and I couldn't be happier. My 2 year old really doesn't play with our cooktop, but if she just walks by it, her curly hair comes uncomfortably close to the gas burners and if she did reach up for any reason to touch the counter, she could easily get burned. I had no problem installing the guard myself (which says a lot about how easy the install was) and it does exactly what I need while not getting in the way at all while we cook. I actually attached it to the side of our counter top, not the stove itself since we have a cooktop and it still works perfectly.
Invest in OUTDOOR Double Sided Tape
By HP
About Me Parent of Multiples (Twins etc)
The tape stopped working after a while. Bought OUTDOOR double-sided tape and that is holding up much better (outdoor holds up to 5 lbs as opposed to 2 lbs for indoor tape).I forgot how great this product is until we visited my parents house. Had to barricade the kids out of the kitchen every time we turned on the stove. This allows me to let the kids in my kitchen - with me in attendance of course.
It's better than nothing
By Mom, the survivor
from Cary
It's better than nothing but if 42" tall 3 year old wants to, she can easily pull it down because it's not really attached to anything to keep it from detaching. It's pretty much glued to the counter BUT it's better than nothing. At least I can get to the stove before she really does any damage to herself.
Disappointed
By Mommy of boys

Loved that this would prevent my little ones from getting their hands on hot stove. The directions were a little unclear about how to put it together but after a little trial and error I figured it out. I had concerns that the little sticky tabs wouldn't hold long and two days after I put it on, it fell off in the middle of the night. I tried to reattach but it just kept falling down. It is now sitting next to my stove doing me no good. Very disappointing.
Great the first month

The stove guard was a must-have having an active toddler, the set up was relatively easy and worked wonderful for the first month. Unfortunately the glue "gave in" and it came off a little over a month.
Exactly what I was looking for

Great Product!
By lwahnish

I bought this when my twins were about 15 months old. Worked like a charm (we had an electric stove). The only "issue" I had was that I had to replace the adheasive after using the oven at a higher temp.... just purchased the super strong double sided adheasive from [@]/[@]...that seemed to hold more strongly than the adheasive that came with the product. Not sure how this would work with a gas stove (we're moving and will have a gas stove this time around).... I would think the flame would melt the plastic but I haven't tried it with gas yet.
So so

The adhesive strips fail to maintain their integrity when used on a gas oven/stove.
didnt work on my stove
By Momma B
from Ohio
this is a good concept...didnt work on my smooth top stove, and I didnt like the adhesive tabs, I think this would be better if it was an industrial strength magnet...so it didnt have to be left on when stove is not in use. I have a special needs 3yr who just doesnt understand that the smooth top is HOT.
