Easy to install

About Me Parent Of Two Or More Children, Working Parent
Comments about One Step Ahead Child's Reclining Bike Seat:
The seat was easy to install (took about an hour). Instructions were good. Fit perfectly. Be sure to get a seat that has adjustable foot rests (like this one), as this is critical for your child's comfort.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

About Me First Time Parent
I love most everything I get from onestepahead however this seat is disappointing. I brought it to a reputable bike shop to install on a new bike - they called me to say they were not 100% on it - - it did not sit securely on the bike - I know it may recline however it was actually loose as oposed to the seat giving. I returned the seat.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: We are sorry that the Bike Seat didn't seem stable to you. It is possible that you needed an adapter.
Fabulous Product! Just what I wanted.

About Me Grandparent
I looked at several other products and the One Step Ahead is the strongest safest bike seat I found. I especially like the way the sides are adjustable for little legs and can be extended as the child grows.
not well fitted

About Me First Time Parent, Pedi Nurse Practitioner, Working Parent
I got this seat when the (other brand name) seat my husband got and attached to his bike was actually painful for me to peddle with because its attachments would rub the inside of my legs. I also got the woman's bike arm support. Other than a few snafus when putting it all together and onto my bike, it was relatively simple (once you figured out the orientation of the pictures that are your directions). My daughter has enjoyed biking with me while seated in it, and encourages me to go faster. She fell asleep in the seat the other day and I tried tilting her back, but it could have used another degree or two in tilt for it to be effective in keeping her head back. When I did tilt it, the legs came up and my hamstrings scraped against them with every peddle, but I bet I could have safely set her seat back further onto the support arm if her head was going to stay put (although I probably would have had to remove her, waking her up, to do so). So now only bike rides AFTER naptime and not before. In general, I am extremely happy with this bike seat, but would like to reiterate the consensus here in the reviews that I think One Step Ahead should make an additional effort to sell individual attachment set-ups so that both parents could alternate the use of this seat.
Not Right for My Bike
from Bucks County, PA
About Me Casual/ Recreational
I ordered this seat with reservations. I hoped it would be right for my bike, but it was not. I am 5'1" and my bicycle is on the smaller side. The seat was difficult to install due to the size of my bike, and ultimately, could not be fully installed. It also does not have a rack, so virtually any weight in the seat would have made it press against my rear tire. I guess this may work for some bikes, but it did not for mine. I ended up with a different seat that has a rack.

Second review of same product.

Be certain to read my original review two reviews below this updated report. It is still true with the exception of the following disappointment:Customer service informed us that they will not be importing / selling the additional mounting system. This unfortunately means that we will not be able to easily switch the child seat from one bike to another. In our case, my husband will not be able to share in the "hauling of our son" since the only supplied mounting system is now attached to my bicycle and switching the mount on the trail is not a practical option.Since One Step Ahead is the only U.S. importer of this carrier, we are now forced to find an importer from a different country who will sell and ship the extra mount to us.Now, I would only recommend this to an individual who plans to do 100% of the child hauling.
Glad we got it -
It didn't take long to install the seat on my bike. We liked it because it can carry children up to almost 50 pounds, therefore my daughter will be using it for two summers. The shock-absorbing springs in the seat help for those bumps you can't avoid. We've gone on some long bike rides and feel confident with the seat's durability.

Great product for many reasons !
from The Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania
We love the way our son is up where we are at when riding. He can see and hear us, doesn't get dusty/muddy, and it allows us to talk to him thus making it a fun ride for him as well (very important if you plan on riding alot (about 1000 miles / summer)like we do). Best of all, it allows me to look over and see his beautiful smile every time I look and talk to him.We considered a bike trailer, if fact we bought a very expensive one (converts to a stroller, jogging stroller, and a cross country skiing stroller), but like all trailers we have encountered, they keep your child way below you, looking either at your butt or facing backwards. Plus, trailers cover you child with dust, mud, and anything else your rear tire can kick up.We have Trek 7200 Hybrid bikes. Initially, the supplied mounting arm left the carrier too close to the rear tire (it rubbed over the smallest bump). A quick email to customer service, and Customer Service Manager "Gina" contacted us directly. She sent us the appropriate mounting arm and all is great now. Finally, as of this time, additional mounting systems (the part that bolts to the bike frame) are not yet available. We need an additional mount so we can switch the carrier from my bike to my husband's bike without tools. Again, Customer Service Manager "Gina" told us they would soon be available.

Seat fits great. Trailer now hauls diaper bag...
Safe installation is a ?
from Madison, WI
I have had a terrible time trying to follow the directions and install this bike seat safely. The diagrams in the product guide are not to scale and the important safety information is unclear. It seems that when it is installed properly aligned over the rear hub that the child foot rests are way to far forward for the adult rider. My legs smash against them when I'm pedaling rendering this seat impossible to use on a regular hybrid bike. I have a lot of cycling experience both on and off-road and have basic mechanical skills. Sadly, I will be returning this seat.

We LOVE this seat. My son looks so comfy in the seat even before we recline it. The seat is so nice and light weight and comes on and off in one simply step about 2 seconds!

I'm an experienced cyclist and have done my own bike maintenance and have added on accessories to my bike before but this product is horrible for instructions. Without the proper instruction you don't know if your assembling it safely, there is no part lists,no step by step instructions and very poor diagrams with no sequencing. I would give this a zero if I could.
High Quality and Easy to Install
By Beach Cruiser Steve

This is the best-looking seat I've seen. You can't beat the price for the quality of this seat. It was simple to install on my bike and only took about 10 minutes. It's great that the seat reclines to give my 18 month-old better views and more comfort for her head with her helmet. The included lock is a very nice feature. The seat is very secure on my bike and I feel confident riding on the street and even the bumpy boardwalk.

Extremely difficult to mount on bike for my handy son-in-law: stripped screws, etc., so badly he doesn't want to try to remove it in order to return it. He said it is far inferior to child bike seat I purchased previously for older grandchild. I did return, unopened, the one I bought for a different grandchild.
Merchant response: We apologize that you are having difficulty with this bike seat. Please give us a call in our Customer Care Center and we would be happy to assist you further. Thank you for your review.
