Very easy to install. Looks fine, almost as if the window was designed to have a grating. The little one has given up on this window completely. It would be helpful if a maximum span was indicated. Maybe a tad too expensive??

We bought a house that happens to have windows that are so low our 4-year-old almost fell out when he leaned against the screen and it buckled. Horrified, we barred the area until I was able to find something to keep a tragic accident from occurring. Right away, I thought of One Step Ahead, which has always had high-quality items. Sure enough, there was a set of bars which not only keep my kids safe from falls, but which can be quickly detached in case there's a fire and they have to get out through the window. Fortunately we had ordered two to arrive at our grandson's house; thinking we may apply it to two different windows. We were surprised to find we needed both to cover his vertical side slide window to be safe and effective. My daughter-in-law did find this advice in small print on included instructions. However, I do not recall seeing this on the descriptive part online. I was a bit disappointed in how expensive it was to cover the one window. There is no price too steep to keep our grandson safe but I cannot imagine the average working parent would pay this for protection.

My windows are situated low to ground in my apartment. Just when you think your toddler won't climb the window about a week after I installed it he had ready climbed my window. At least he didn't fall out of window. The only negative thing I have to say is that my windows are long from top to bottom. They should make window guards that are larger. But my child is small enough that he can't open window yet plus if you install a window stopper they can't open window anyway. You do sell window stoppers on website. I haven't bought them yet. My recommendation is to measure properly your window and buy these window guards. Easy to put In with a drill. Less than ten minutes. Sturdy. Safe. Because your child's safety is most important.

I absolutely love these gates! They are worth the money. They are sturdy, easy to install and because they are in white you cannot notice they're on the window. I feel comfy in having my kids play in any area where these gates are assembled.

These are simply the safest product to protect your child from a window fall. There is nothing like the peace of mind knowing my son can't break through the bars and I don't have to worry. They are white and attractive enough (for window bars) to quickly get used to looking through them, plus they are easily removed by an adult if you need to.

You never know when your child will climb up to a window for his first time - installing these window guards in time ensures your family's safety.

The template for drilling holes was inaccurate by about a quarter of an inch. In the event of a fire, I am concerned that the instructions on the bars will be difficult to see and the release is otherwise tricky to figure out. And the instruction manual mentions installing bars that cover the window top to bottom because the child can use the bars to climb up, but I didn't see anything about this online before purchasing. As a parent buying groceries and diapers, I wish it were cheaper, but for the peace of mind it's worth the price.

I now have peace of mind because with the window guards, I don't have to worry about my nephew falling out of the second story window, the bars are sturdy and they look good in the window. I highly recommend these to anyone who has a small child, the price and peace of mind they give you is fantastic.

This Product is great its just i wish that One Step Ahead had a better product discription explaining how many you need and how it would look like for different type of windows. For example I have double slidding windows, so in the manual it says that you need to intall the bars vertically and you will more than likely need 2... Honeslt I dont like the feeling like im in a prison!

This was a bit difficult for my husband to install, but once it is up it is great. It is very sturdy and secure. We never open our windows (actually have those wedge locks as well), but if they are opened this would keep them safe from the 3 story bedrooms. Also, it is good enough it would prevent an older child from trying to jump out.
