These sparkly, blunt-tipped scissors absolutely, positively won't cut fingers, skin, or hair! However, they do a great job cutting paper, and they're perfectly sized for little hands. Includes two pairs, with both straight and zigzag edges (great for art projects!). For ages 3 and up. See Product Details

Better than crayons!

Comments about Melissa & Doug Child Safety Scissors:
I was always jealous of those moms who had toddlers who would sit and color. I noticed my son's fascination with my scissors and thought I would try these...they hold his attention for 30-40 minutes as he tries to manipulate them. What a difference it makes while I'm making dinner...just set him in his booster seat with a color book, scissors and tape and away he goes...nothing gets colored but he stays busy for the entire time. Thank you!!

On the first day my son played with these, he opened the scissors and forcefully put his hands over the blade and did not get injured at all. (I don't recommend trying this at home).

I got these for my 3 year old granddaughter as a stocking stuffer for Christmas. She uses these daily by practicing cutting and everyday gets a little better. These are safe, bright and colorful, and durable .... I highly recommend to any child!
Daughter Loves These

Got these for my 4 yr old daughter who is crazy for scissors. They are great, safe & good for hours of play. Only downside, is that I find tiny pieces of paper all over my house. :0)
Perfect for a toddler!

I bought some workbooks for my 2 year old which included pages for her to cut things out and these scissors are perfect. While I still watch her, I don't have to worry about her getting hurt when using these scissors. Perfect for my toddler!
Glad I bought this product

My three old daughter loves to mimic the things that my husband and I do, such as cutting coupons and hair cuts. These scissors are safe, they cut paper but they do not cut hair. She pretends to cut our hair. The price was great. She is practicing how to hold the scissors correctly while cutting. She likes to master skills and then move on to something different.

They work!

Not only are these scissors safe for my 4 year old, they actually cut things! The straight scissors are easier for her to use than the zigzag scissors, but that's to be expected. Once she develops stronger hand muscles, they should be fine.
Cutarific scissors

Great learning tool for independent kids who like to do things on their own. Bright colors so you can easily spot where they laid them down. Does not cut hair or clothes (Mom tested first).
they really don't cut hair

great product.
Saveyour money!

I bought these for my toddler. They are very cute but totally useless since they cut nothing - even paper. For the money, buy the metal scissors and supervise your child closely.

The Best for kids
By Amy

These are the best scissors for little ones...my husband and I have tried cutting everything with them...it is true they only cut paper. The kids can pretend to cut each others hair and the dogs hair with no damage done! I will be ordering more as with a 1,2 & 3 year old things are always getting lost. I want to be able to always have these on hand for their projects.
Great concept

About Me Educator, First Time Parent
My 2 1/2 year old is learning how to use scissors in school so we wanted a safe pair for her to practice with at home. I love the fact that they are safe and won't cut hair (although we haven't tried cutting hair yet). However, the scissors don't always cut the paper and my daughter gets frustrated. They have to be held very sturdy inorder to work - a difficult task for a 2 1/2 year old who is just learning. I'm sure once she becomes more proficient at holding the scissors she will get more use out of them.
I love these!

About Me Parent of Two or More Children
I got these for my 2 1/2 year old. He always was jealous watching my 5 year old use a scissors but he wasn't quit ready for the metal ones. This is the perfect substitute! I love that it came with two different scissors too. Perfect for little ones that just want to cut paper.
