These placemats are great. I thought I was going to order a different style, but saw these and knew they would be perfect for my 2 year old daughter. She loves to draw, but now instead of needing to bring crayons and paper, we can draw with chalk and just erase when we are done. We keep one on our table at home and take the other with us when we go out to eat. She stays entertained and her food doesn't end up on the restaurant table.

We just started using this product last week so we haven't used it too much yet. I have it set up on the counter and our three yr old can make art anytime without me worrying about spilled paints or marks on the countertops. Very handy to have around. Not sure if we will take to restaurants but I certainly like using this at home!

My grandson loves this placemat! He thinks it is the greatest thing. He likes the pocket and "his" sponge. He uses the chalk to indulge his artistic passions just before his food is served. He wipes his own placemat with "his" sponge. Only thing is, that he is a typical toddler and presses down hard on the "tiny" chalk. Needless to say, most of the tiny chalk broke immediately. He was amazed that there were two pieces that did not--luck of the draw, I guess for the chalk. Still he uses the broken chalk to draw.

I thought this was a great idea for travel, we gave it to the kids for easter- they never really have played with it or asked for it. So it has no faults to mention just kids did not care for it!

I use these place mats for when we go out to eat. My daughter loves the fact that she can do multiple drawings at one sitting just by wiping the surface. She also loves that she has MANY colors of chalk.

The only bad thing is the chalk rolls everywhere. I wish they made triangle shaped chalk like they do some crayons.

What a great idea! My toddler loves to color and draw ... and now we have a way to lure him to the table! We're still battling his will to play vs. eat, but at least getting the table is easier.

Black surface wipes clean with a wet paper towel and is ready for re-use within seconds. My son has even started coming to the table just to draw when it's not meal time.

If I could change one thing, I'd make the pocket part of the border instead of the actual drawing area, it apparently gets in the way of our budding artist. Otherwise, we just love these!

I thought that there was no way this would be as it was described but it was. My kids loved it and since it comes 2 in a pack, they didn't fight over it. THough there is only one small eraser which poses a small sharing problem. They stayed put in their chairs drawing and erasing until way after the food arrived. Woohoo!! no more restlessness at the restaurant

Difficult to write on, had to scrub to get the chalk off and who wants to clean up chalk dust at the table when dinner is about to be served? Also, the stitching around the chalk surface traps food so cleanup from a messy meal very difficult. I returned it for something else. You are better off with washable crayons and paper.

Great idea, although we have to hide the chalk until AFTER the meal! Wipes up easily with a wet cloth and seems durable.

This is nice to break out when at a restaurant to keep the kids entertained. They have fun writing and wiping plus we can come up with more games to pass the time while waiting for their food. Need to wet the sponge a little to get it to really wipe off. So far so good - I am enjoying the product
