Comments about Barron's Big Hand, Little Hand: Learn To Tell Time Children's Book:

My son has showed interest in learning to tell time and I started to teach him just looking at the clock on the wall. I saw this book and thought it will be really good for him to get his hands on the hands. The story is cute and he enjoys it. Sometimes we dont read the story we just talk about different things we do during the day and what time we do them at.

Comments about Barron's Big Hand, Little Hand: Learn To Tell Time Children's Book:

My son is 3. He is a bit young for time telling, but loves to pretend by wearing watches. This book has a different color for the big hand and little hand, and my son can imitate what he sees in the pictures. We use this book often and "try to make the pictures match our clock". I am sure that this will be a very helpful step for us when it comes to teaching how to tell time.

Comments about Barron's Big Hand, Little Hand: Learn To Tell Time Children's Book:

The things that are great is the whole idea, but unfortunately it really doesn't help. My son was really not interested at all.
Another con is that when trying to move the hands around you have to hold the other so it won't move along with it.
I gave it a 2 because I thought the idea to teach how to tell time with something was a good idea.
In this case... it really didn't help.

Comments about Barron's Big Hand, Little Hand: Learn To Tell Time Children's Book:

The book is excellent in that it covers all the different ways we tell time such as half past one or a quarter till eleven. My six and seven year olds enjoyed the rhymes and moving the hands on the clock to match the one in the picture. Sometimes I cover the clock in the picture until they set the clock where they think it should be. However on the second page the rhyme says it should be 6:00 and the pictures shows 6:15. I corrected my copy with some white out and a blue permanent marker.

Comments about Barron's Big Hand, Little Hand: Learn To Tell Time Children's Book:

My grandson wanted a watch with "real hands - not just the numbers" for Christmas. As he is only 5 and didn't know how to tell time, I included this book as part of his gift. He loved it and we ended up reading it at least twice before the night was through.

Comments about Barron's Big Hand, Little Hand: Learn To Tell Time Children's Book:

This book is an excellent introduction to teaching time on a clock with hands. It starts by referring to the minutes as quarter and half past and quarter 'til the hour, only making a couple references to the minute readings, so a child doesn't have to be able to count by 5's yet to get a general idea of how to read a clock.
