This gate and its array of attachments take care of our needs perfectly. We purchased the gate in white with 2 sets of extensions and the Y-spindles (for securing one side of the gate to a railing). We chose to buy this product mainly because of the Y-spindles, but we are so pleased with the automatic-close feature. It took us a couple minutes to figure out how to open the gate at first- you must push the switch and pull the gate up at the same time. Overall, we are very pleased with the security, usefulness, and ease of this gate.

We put this gate at the bottom of our stairs with 1 extention kit and y spindle attachments. Our older kids 8 and 5 can open it without any trouble. The option to keep the door open is nice too while the baby is sleeping. The only issue, if you would even call it that, is that it doesn't auto close completely. We have to give it a little push to completely close. This is a great nice looking gate for a high traffic area.

I use this gate to keep my 2 year old grandson and my dogs out of my guest room. The front of this room is used by my 6 year old granddaughter for a Barbie/Princess/Girl room. She opens the gate easily. The gate is well made and sturdy. I will be buying more for other rooms.

We needed the extension kit to use on our stairwells. Both the gate and the extensions were easy to assemble. We like the looks of the gates and the ease of use.

This gate works exactly as described. The weird comment someone made about it being bent - well, it IS, but that's so when you install it, there's pressure against the wall or banister. Once it's installed, it's straight. It takes a bit of strength to do it, but it really works well. You should NOT, however, (as it instructs)install it at the top of the stairs even though it's a great gate. It's true the bar at the bottom is a tripping hazard.

This gate is aweful. The closure din't line up OR even reach ! The gate door just swings open and doesn't close, what good is that?

This gate was broken when it arrived and I called Kidco and they sent another one, all I had to do was send them a picture. Awesome customer service! I have the gate, 2 extensions and the Y-spindles. It all fit together great and works perfectly at the bottom of our staircase, which has spindles on one side, a hand rail and uneven molding on the other side. The "hold open" button is wonderful for after we put the kids to bed. My strong 12 month old son practically hangs from this gate and it does nto budge. My 4 year old can not open it, which is unfortunate for her, but I am glad it is that secure. The only small complaint I have is the gate makes a "click" sound when it closes due to the magnetic feature, but I ignore it due to the awesome shutting feature. Overall, the best gate we have owned.

We purchased two of these gates to use at the top and bottom of our staircase. They mount perfectly. Their lock system is great. I have a 3 year old boy and 16 month old girl. The opening system is made smart. It needs strength to keep the click open and then lift the gate. So it is hard for a toddler to do that easily. I bought this gate more for my daughter . I am very happy with the gate and I highly recommend it! It is a pressure gate that does what it is supposed to and does not damage your walls and staircase.

The button pops out when the gate is closed from the locked-open position. Keeping your finger on the button prevents this.

This gate is extremely sturdy and I feel totally safe using it in our home at the bottom of the stairs. The Y shaped spindles are a must for balisters.

This gate was used in a door opening in our child care center.. which gets a lot of use~
The parents had a hard time pushing the button and pulling up on the gate each time they went through the opening. After three weeks the button had broken off from the extensive use...
I have now gone back to the basic wooden wide opening gate with a latch~

I agree with some of the others who felt this product was flawed. You have to put so much pressure on this gate to get it to even come close to closing. I am not talking about the lock. The lock will work if the two sides of the gate get close enough but i couldn't get them that close. I was using it with the y spindle attachment on one side and against a wall on the other. I had to put so much pressure that my spinle was bowing just to get the gate to close and lock. It still doesn't work but i don't know what my other options are at the bottom of my stairs with out drilling into my spindle or putting up plywood like we used to. Then we had to clinb over, it sucked!
