i have 2 sets of these rails and love them. When moving my boys from cribs to beds i wanted them to still have some protection on the sides so they wouldn't roll out of their beds. We call their beds "nests" because they are so cozy and safe with these rails. I have the rails on both sides of their full size beds. LOVE THESE!

It was unclear from reading the description of this item that it is not for use as a stand-alone product. It can only be used along with the Hide-Away Bed Rail and is useless on its own.

I purchased this because we wanted a tall railing for our daughter, but knew we didn't want the folding feature as we bought that one for our first child and found it to be flimsy and not easy to fold anyway. This railing came with nothing to secure it under the top mattress, it's just a side railing meant to be used with the folding railing, which is sold separately. Had this been made more clear, I wouldn't have bought it. Please amend the current description to indicate this is not a stand-alone product!

We purchased this for our 2 year old son, who has been out of his crib since 18 months old. We had him on the floor with a futon mattress for the last six months. But with winter now we wanted him in a real bed but safely. These rails are the best solution for us. We really feel he's safe! And he seems to sleep better because he feels safe too.

I want to buy this product for my use in another country, so I want to know if the tallest pipe can fit in the standard travelling luggage or not, I mean is the tallest part can be folded to be able to put it in the travelling bag or not, because I might not allowed to have it with me in the airplane.

Q:
I want to purchase the side rails for use with the Grandchildren in our guest room when they visit,(queen bed) but don't want them up permanently. Can they just be slid in place for overnight use and stored in the closet for the next visit, or do I have to go through a long installation for each overnight. Can two stationary side units be ordered as opposed to a hide away and a fixed unit.?

  The "additional" side rails can't be used without the primary bed rail. The additional stationary rail can be removed and stored in an out of the way place, while not in use. The main bed rail slides between the mattress and box spring when not in use, so it is not necessary to remove (disassemble the unit) when not in use (between visits).

I am going to have a twin mattress on top of wooden slats...will one stationary rail on each side be compatible with this set up? Could I in any way use the fold down on one side and a stationary on the other?

  Kate - i have full mattresses on top of plywood (no boxspring) and we used rails on both sides...did not use the straps that come with it but instead screwed the rails into the interior wood of bed itself on both sides. it is secure, tight and we don't ever fold them down....just work around them when I make the beds and it isn't too bad. I love these rails. have them on my 3 yr olds bed (he has used them since he was 1 1/2 and i just moved my little guy into a full bed with the rails and he is 1 1/2.

  No. I apologize. This is the extra side rail. This can only be used in conjunction with the main side rail item 22688. It also requires a box spring.
