Dense foam that won't tear with pressure from the kids repeatedly trying to close the door. The ones we'd purchased at [...] always tore. These have a much better design too!

We have heavy oak doors in our house. Our toddler grandchildren unintentionally slam them. These have made it much safer. And they can be removed when the kids aren't here.

Our house has a funny design and I was worried about one of the older kids not seeing the baby and shutting the door on his little fingers. So I ordered 3 packs of these. The picture shows the finger guard on the front of the door (on the side with the handle). As soon as I put it on I could tell that if the baby stuck his fingers anywhere near the hinged part of the door, this would not stop it from closing on them. So I just opened the door all the way and hooked it around the other side of the door (by the hinge). It works fine this way. Just be aware that it only protects the one side of the door if installed as shown.

My two boys tend to slam doors around our house and I was really psyched to find something from One Step Ahead that could keep their fingers ON their hands and not in a ziploc bag of ice on the way to the ER.

Alas, this is not the product.

My three year old was frustrated at not being able to shut the door and took a couple of good hard slams -- brought what was left of the door stop to me. "Look, Mommy -- I broke this."

Hmmm...I expected something a little more sturdy and able to stand up to real kiddos.

I am really happy with these. I am using them on the top of the door so my son can't pinch his fingers on the hinge side either. The only thing I would change would be if they could hang on the door knob or something when not in use.

My daughters were driving me nuts slamming their bedroom door and I was more than a little worried about crushed fingers. (My brother's fingers were crushed in a slammed door.) I've had these for nearly a month and they work like a charm! They're large and foam and slide easily onto the edge of a door. They keep the door open approximately 2-3 inches. I use the second one on the bathroom and can take it off in a snap when privacy is needed. They work exactly as I'd hoped!
