I bought two of these gates to keep my Great Dane out of the litter box area, but let my cats in. They are fantastic! He can't get over them to eat their food or get in the litter box but the cats can. I own a professional pet sitting business and have recommended them to several of my clients. I bought this gate to use with both my pets and my child. I am only giving it one star because the gate has labels all over it saying that it is not to be used for children. My 10 month old can crawl through the cat door and has pinched his fingers in it. I wish I would have read the reviews more closely but I naively assumed that one step ahead would only be selling products safe for children! If you are only looking for a gate for pets than this gate is very nice (and for this purpose I would give it 4 stars). Although, despite the company response to some of the other reviews, the directions I received with this gate definitely do direct you to mount a bracket into the door frame.

I'm using the gate in an attempt to keep my child from the cat food and litter box. The huge flaw with this product is my 16 month old can crawl through the pet door, defeating the purpose of having a gate. I'm keeping it installed because it slows him down by a few seconds, but it doesn't keep him blocked off. Also, the wheels at the lower part of the gate that apply pressure to keep the gate secure are easy for my child to loosen, so I have to watch him and make sure he's not spinning them. Gate was somewhat difficult to install because there is no margin for error with where the holes are drilled in the doorway.

I bought this item because it was listed with baby gates. When I received the gate, it actually has stickers all over the product, stating that it is not for children. It is intended for use with animals only. I decided to give it a try anyway and it is working out well enough. My 1 year old daughter can crawl through the cat pass if she wants to but it does slow her down. If you are considering this as a gate to let cats through but not children you may want to consider a different option.

This gate is easy to uses and served its purpose. We bought this gate to keep our baby out of the laundry room where our cat's food and litter box is kept. The little door was perfect to let the cat come and go as she pleased. But now my 11 month old son has figured out how to crawl through the small door. Now we have to figure out something else. So the gate has worked for us as intended for about 4 months. Beware that your baby or toddler may be able to crawl through the small door.

I am so pleased with this gate. It's SO EASY to set up, and it keeps my boxer behind it. The little pet door at the bottom works well for my 2 pugs, and cat...still keeping the boxer in the room.

This gate has proved to be good for my younger children that are not allowed in that room. Bars childrens hands do not get stuck. The opening in the gate only goes one way but that is fine with me. I love the locking handle also.
Would I buy this gate again? YOU BET'CHA! The price was low compared to a lot of others that I have seen. Im very pleased with it, and if you buy it also, you will be pleased too.

Keeps our labs from charging the front door and knocking people over. Works great. They don't even jump on the gate because the bars are far enough apart that they are afraid to jump on it.

I bought this gate so I could gate off the area where I could keep the cat food from my "food motivated" Labrador's. The gate is constructed well and it's a breeze to install. I have one full-grown Lab and a 6-month-old Lab puppy. However, the puppy can still fit through the cat door (for now!). Therefore, my good intentions will have to be put on the back burner for now. It will be effective in the near future - therefore I rate this as a good buy!

Love the gates, but finding repair parts for handle has been impossible. The manufacturer(Regalo, Inc.) has been TOTALLY non-responsive.

The gate is very effective in separating our dog from the bedroom area. The only area where I have a criticism is the human opening is narrow. An overweight person would have difficulty in passing through. It is also difficult to take a laundry basket through -- you have to pass it over the top of the gate. It was easy to install and it is easy to use.

Not quite a true pressure gate, it does require that four small screws be drilled into the wall. Once in place it is solid and secure. Easy to open and close with one hand and the gate is wide enough to pass through while carrying a bulky load. The small pet door allows a cat or small dog to come and go while a larger pet is secured.

We got this gate to keep the dog and toddler out of the cat food/litter. It is nice and tall so the dog can not jump over it and our son can't climb it. The small door for the cats, however, does fit an average size 2 year old boy through it so it does not keep him out but it we still like the gate very much. It was easy to install and is easy to use.
