We bought two of these and use one with the 14 inch extension. They do not need to be drilled into the wall for a secure fit. They both auto close every time. They also look nicer and a little more quality made than some other gates I've seen.

Have to admit...We are using this gate with a new puppy. Want everyone to know #1 with a bit of practice, our 4 1/2 year old could use it. Good for our purposes. #2 IT IS STURDY!!! When she tugs on it to lift for opening, the gate stays in place!!! We have it pressure mounted so to me that's really remarkable. Very strong. Highly recommend!! Love auto close.

We purchased the gate because of the auto-close feature. The best thing out there. However, there is a bar that runs on the bottom of the gate; this is very dangerous for us. Directions state that you can use at the top of stairs. We had to step over the bar and then down the stairs. The gate opening was too small for me to fit through, so I had to turn sideways with a baby in my arms. We also had to have all extenions to fit our opening. Our daughter would stand there and move the whole closed gate back and forth; there was a lot of "give" in it. It was also fairly difficult to install as you have to make sure that it is at perfect angles, the ends screwed in enough, and the clip on the correct side of the gate. The only way that I would recommend this gate is for anything other than the top of the stairs. I think it is an excellent product for those purposes.

The auto-close worked for about a week - now we must deliberately close it, which is a nuisance because the cat is always watching and quick to act.

i have a graduate degree from a university and STILL could not follow the directions to install this - finally once it was installed (figured it out on own b/c directions are worthless!!) it still doesn't self close ALL of the time - really about less than 50% of the time - NOT WORTH MONEY

This gate is very durable, sturdy, fairly easy to install, and keeps the little ones out. The door works great too.

Received the gate and ready to install. Instructions are bad and my husband is VERY handy. Plastic is cracked in more than one place. Back in the box and back to square one. Will be going with Kidco Center Gatway. Fingers crossed.

Great Product, good for NOT drilling holes into the walls.

Goes great on Railings with the additional Installation Kit.

Self Closing Option is AWSOME! You never have to worry about closing the gate.

It does NOT slam closed so kids cannot get hurt if they are next to it!

Some plastic was cracked on the hinge area and auto close gate would not auto close. After discussing with customer service rep, decideded to live with it, to avoid hassle of returning. Because it would not auto close my 2.5 year old slammed the door shut one day, breaking the plastic latch that stops the gate so now it was impossible to stay closed. I then decided to have it replaced. They sent one out immediately and I returned the faulty one about a week ago [...] The replacement one had the broken plastic in the hinge area in the same location as the first gate!!! However, it works, it does auto close now...i give up with this product. Lets hope nothing else breaks. If it does, I'll get a refund!

I use the product for the top and bottom of my stairs. As a whole it works fine,the autoclose doesn't always work, I have to manually close it. The installation instructions are confusing at first, we thought the gate was missing pieces initially until we read the packing slip on how it works. The gate has been fine since we installed it.

This product is easy to install and seems to be sturdy enough for a very energetic toddler.

We bought this gate because we had one from a few years back and need a bigger one.We bought it with the 31" extension. I was surprised to see an "update" that I didn't like. The gate used to just need to be pulled up and out to be opened. A latch was added so now you have to pull back the latch with your thumb while lifting up and pulling/pushing. Too much work so I taped the latch back with several strong pieces of tape. Now it operates like our old model. There was no way my six year old could open it otherwise and it was hard for me to use as well. Especially while carrying a baby.
