I purchased these about 3 weeks ago for my four year old daughter. She was having a hard time holding her pencil properly. I had been teaching her for several years to write her letters, numbers, name etc. And she always struggled with the proper way to hold a pencil. I had seen these, and remembered something like it when I was young! So we have been using them, and she loves them. They are very soft and feels good on her fingers. Even adults could use them. The only thing negative is that the R and L marks for where to place your thumb are the same color as the item so it is hard to make out. I tried to mark it with a pen, but it rubbed right off. If the R and L for Left or Right was a darker color it would be easier. So she could just pick up the pencil see the R and place her thumb and begin to right.
Otherwise great product.

I purchased this item because I had two children (ages 5 and 7) who were struggling with holding their pencils properly. It took some finessing to use these correctly (one child is left-handed and the other right-handed). Once we figured out how the markings worked, we got on much better. Now, both children are making good progress toward a proper pencil grip.

I bought this product for my daughter who was having difficutly using the correct pincher grasp when writing and coloring (she's nearly 4) and was still using mostly a palmer grasp..this little grip was great! It corrected her grip using it with both pencils and crayons very quickly. She loves how it feels and asks to use it now every time she is working on writing her name or coloring a picture! It's designed for use for both a rightie or leftie and gives an indication on the grip how to position it for use with both!

The lightness of my daughter's pencil lines and crayon marks has remained largely unchanged, but her grip has certainly improved! Along with her confidence in how to hold both implements correctly.
