My first child would only sleep swaddled and 4 years ago the choices were few. So, we had to learn the hospital method and hope she couldn't squirm free. Now, with the birth of our little guy, I was thrilled to see this option in the baby store. I didn't know what kind of sleeping situation he would demand, however I was prepared with this blanket to either swaddle him with arms in or out --- or with just the sleep sack. My friend had long ago recommended sleep sacks, so I knew I wanted to use one with this baby. We swaddled him with this in his first weeks, but soon removed the swaddle portion & just used it as a blanket. This is a great gift for yourself or anyone who is unsure of what sleep environment your baby will require. I highly recommend this product for your newborn, and sleep sacks in general. Now my little guy gets so excited when I put his sleep sack on since it's his signal for nap/bed time.

I bought this for my baby hoping for another nighttime swaddle option. Unfortunately it's not the best out there . . . he could squirm his arms out of the swaddle without much of a problem and then he'd startle himself awake. It worked OK for nap time but not so great at night.
