I looked everywhere for an idea on how to lock my fireplace doors. When I saw this I was beyond thrilled. It is easy to install and seems sturdy. The problem is that you can still pull out the doors so the child can still reach down in the fireplace. it needs something added to fix this problem.

Leaps and Bounds Response: Please make sure you followed the manufacturer's instructions. It's sounds like you need to tighten the screws. Also, you must have solid panels that swing or fold. If that does not work, please contact our Customer Service Department for further assistance.

Bought this without exactly knowing how it installs. The site description is vague and the picture does not show close-up of the item.
Had high expectation, but it does not work with my fireplace door handles, even though it is double fold glass like in picture. The handles are not flat but are knobs and further apart.
The guard does not fit and cannot be used. Now I am left with 2 pieces of metal with 2 bolts.

I have twin 11 month old boys, and they really enjoyed working together opening and closing the fire place door. One would open, the other would put his fingers in the door to stop his brother from closing it. Of course... One would get hurt. I purchased the fireplace guard, my husband said that it was hard to put on depending on the handles that you have but it worked great. The boys tried a couple times to open the door and than gave up. I would recommend this product to anybody, very well built product.
