Within two hours of play, the mechanism to raise the arm failed. Impossible to fix by yourself as decals seal the internals of the toy so you cannot open and look for loose wiring. Also, it does not actually scoop up anything, even loose toy blocks like Legos.

I bought this for my 3 year old son's birthday. He saw it in the catalog and HAD to have it. There is an electrical plug to plug the digger's arm in to the body. The plug kept slipping back in to the body so I couldn't plug it in. Finally, after super gluing the plug in place the digger only moved down not up and the scoop didn't work at all. I asked for an exchange, which they were very good about. However, the second digger we received was only a little bit better and still doesn't work right. The plug was in place in this one but the arm will only move up this time. It wont move down. The scoop does work in both directions. The whole point of this toy is for the arm and scoop to work! Since my son is really looking forward to getting this as his birthday gift I am going to keep it and let him decide if he wants to keep it as is, broken, or return it for something different. It is very cheaply made. I would NOT waste your money on it.

I bought this for my two year old nephew and he absolutely loves it. The helmet is a little big for his head (but he has a small head). I think his uncle and grandpa had even more fun showing him how to work the controls.

The digging feature comes up a little short...the span should be about 2 inches longer in the digging action so it can dig the ground that the excavator is sitting on...

We bought this for our sons first birthday present and it doesn't work. We put it together which was very easy but the controls don't move anything and it doesn't even make a sound. I have always liked the items I have bought from this company but I was very disappointed with the excavator w/helmet

It looks cute and my 2 year old loves sitting on it but it is plastic so I am afraid that it will be broken before we know it. It can't scoop up anything heavy so it is not practical for outdoor sand use. It is a cute digger ride on for inside play only.

The Micro Excavator was bought for my best friend's daughter, and she loves it!! She uses it all the time in the sandbox.

Do not be worried about the size of the box when it is delivered, it does look small like you have to put a ton of things together, but you don't. It was so easy to put together and use.

She is 26 mnths and absolutely loves it!! Great present

My 3 1/2 construction loving son received this toy for Christmas and was delighted! He is very clever with technology and levers, but after about 1/2 hour he became very frustrated with the controls. My son, my husband and I tried in vain to pick up anything. We tried light balls of varying sizes, loose mulch, sand, and other various toys. Unfortunately, this toy simply didn't pick anything up. It is a cool looking and sounding toy, but if you (or your child) actually want an excavator to pick up object, I would not recommend this one.
