We playfully call this the "baby cage," and I couldn't have made it through my first trimester of my second pregnancy without it. My husband travels nearly all week, and my 8 month old son refused to be contained once he learned to crawl (5 months) and furniture walk (5.5 months). I was so exhausted chasing him around to keep him our of harm's way (we're in a small apartment that's not really baby-proofed while our home is being built) that I was close to, if not in, tears most days. At my mom's urging, I purchased this and set it up in his room. It takes up nearly the whole floor space in there, but that's great b/c the purpose wasn't to limit his space, just to keep him safe. It's bulky just by the nature of the beast, and a little heavy when folded b/c there are so many "sides". I have a hard time dragging it from one place to another while it's folded when I'm carrying him, but then, it's probably not a good idea to try to do that anyway. He's in the 95th percentile for height and he can stand up and reach the top edge, yet it's sturdy enough that even while trying to literally climb the side, it hasn't collapsed. He can't get his fingers pinched in the hinges, but if he were to figure out how to move the whole thing, it's possible that he could pinch himself between two of the sides. Otherwise, it's perfectly safe. I can even leave him in there (as long as there are only soft toys) and go to the restroom by myself! My only complaint is that, when folded up, it's so big that it's hard to get out of the way, and it also tends to fall over and make a HUGE noise if it's not secured with the strap it comes with. The reason I don't use the strap is that it's not permanently attached (since it could be dangerous if left on while in use) and is never in a convenient place for me to grab. If someone could figure out how to make a gate like this that's CLEAR (and less unsightly, b/c we do use this in our living room as well), it would get 5 stars from me! Obviously, safety is the point, and it certainly does its job.

I bought this for my twins when they started crawling. A lifesaver, especially to keep them safe when I have to attend to my three-year-old. This has plenty of room for the two of them and was reasonably priced. We take it traveling too.

Poorly constructed, flimsy at best. A 7 month old can push it around and two in the same space can come close to toppling it if they are both in the same spot. Very cheaply made but not priced like it!

it works very well for my 11 month old. it makes it easy for me to get things done around the house without having to worry about where he is or what he has gotten into. it works so much better than a little play pen due to all the room that is allowed. love it!!!!!

I really like this play yard because it is versatile. I use it to expand my living room into my sun room and still block off all the dangerous stuff. I also use it folded in a zig zag to block off shelves. I plan to use it outside as well.
the only issue I had with it is: when this is set up independently my son can move it! he pushes one section and changes the shape of the play yard! he can move it pretty far even when the knobs are tight, but this can be remedied with a little creative placement.
even though he can move it and I have to sometimes place a chair here or there, I still feel like I made a solid investment and I am glad I bought it. I use it everyday.

Use to keep babies out of electronics and bookcases.[...].Each section of fence warped. Mesh flimsy and I worry it may be too thin and may cut one of my twins. Very bulky, hard to fold up and stow.

This play yard is OK for a 7 month old but NOT quality construction. Upon arrival, the panels were bent and the gate IS NOT easy to operate (especially if you have med. length nails) Also, if you bump the play yard, the entire thing moves- My husband was furious at the cost for this product!

We love this play yard. The only reason I did not give it five stars is because we haven't had it that long, so I don't know what time will bring. So far my little one likes it. We put her in by herself to play with whatever toys she is interested in at the moment and she can occupy herself for quite some time while I make dinner, do laundry, whatever. It is also big enough for my 6 foot 4 inch husband to get in and play with her. Also my daughter is now pulling up on things and leaning on them to stand. She has no problem using the sides of the play yard for this purpose and it is sturdy enough to hold her up. Great purchase!

we just bought this product last week because our 6 month old is rolling around and will soon be crawling. i was a little nervous after reading some of the negative reviews, but i was overwhelmingly pleased with the size and since we plan to keep the play yard in the same shape while using it in our home we simply tightened the hinges and it is working out very well for us. not only is it large enough for her daddy - who is very tall - to play with her, the gate is very convenient for when grandmas and grandpas are visiting :)

Unfortunately our 1 year old could literally pick this gate up and move it across the entire room. The sections would collapse, and some of the edges on the inside of the pen were a bit sharp if he fell onto them or rubbed up against them. Did not work well for us at all.

[...] However, one of knobs on the gate was broken. I called the manufacturer to get another knob, and was sent a new gate, but not what I originally ordered. I called again and was not pleased with the service I received from Summer Infant. Overall, the gate serves the purpose, to corral two active infant twins for short periods of time. It is flimsy and not well constructed. I would spent more money and get a stronger gate if I bought one again.

It helps me a lot to do some stuff during the day. My baby loves it - at least for a couples to three hours a day - which is a relief for a new mom.

I have half of a very large living room dedicated to my son being able to play but when he started getting into everything I decided to buy this product because it came with the extensions and other reviews complained about it being too large so I thought "perfect". I like it well enough but I do wish it were bigger so my son has more room to play with his toys and he has hit his head twice on the hinges that stick out no matter what way I configure the product. But it works well for the short time spans he is in it so I can shower and straighten up the house. Also a comment to the people that said their child could drag it, I use a very shaggy rug I got from [...] under it and put one part in the corner for more stability and my very strong son even uses it to pull him self up and pushes his feet against it with no movement.

I use this gate in the yard with my 14 month old son. I am able to set it up and take it down by myself. My son loves it because he can walk around in it and still be on the grass (or blanket). I love it because it keeps him safe while I'm working in the yard. He tries to climb on it, and so far it has been a fortress. It seems pretty much indestructable, yet folds easily to store in a fairly compact area in the garage. The "door" is great too because there is no way I'd be able to climb over it! I would recommend this gate to anyone who wants an outdoor play area...it's terrific!

I use this as my sons play pen and toy keeper. Before he had a pac'n'play. As he became more interested in moving about the pac'n'play did not give him enough room to move about when crawling or standing.
We have it in our living room and our son loves it. His standing, movement, and confidence has improved now that he has more room to practice and try, try again.
It is great to have a separate space for his toys as well so the dog can not eat them and no surprises when walking in the dark.
The lightweight construction is great while moving it about, but it also means that Jr can push it into the middle of the room. We are going to try to put some gripping stickers on the bottom in hopes to slow him down a bit.
All in all we are very satisfied with this product and would recommend it to others.
