Comments about Parent Units PC Guard Tower Protector:
My twin daughters (14 months) LOVE to push any/all the computer buttons. I was looking for something to cover them and this does the trick! It hides the buttons well, is very durable, and has strong velcro that is hard for little ones to get off.
I thought this would keep my 22-month-old from opening the CD drive, pushing buttons, etc...unfortunately, the velcro is easy for her to pull off (and FUN!) and she still gets the job done...The product is just okay. I am not sure there's anything better out there at this time. I do think this would be perfect for a younger child.
I am not sure if the guard will withstand my 2-year-old's curious fingers, but for now, it seems to do the trick. It's not outrageously priced, and for the value, it does the job.
It keeps the cheerios out of the CD drive! The velcro is pretty strong so I don't see my son pulling this cover off anytime soon! His interest with the computer in general has disapeared now that there are no flashing lights to look at!

This works great! It keeps chips and cookies out of my CD-ROM drive and it keeps the kids from turning it off and on. I bought the grey, but should have gotten black. My computer has a light around my on and off button, and the glowing attracts their attention.

don't like at all-waste of money!!
I work full time as grandpa daycare for my 18 month old grandson, and part time as an insurance agent. I need to be on the computer sometimes during the day, and he loves to be there with me. He also loves to push buttons, and has shut my computer down in the middle of something important. The PC Guard hides the on-off button, so he isn't tempted.
Since putting this on our computer, our 1 year old has not even looked at the computer. He used to push the buttons, open the CD-ROM drive, etc. Now he doesn't even notice that the computer is there, because it is covered up. I should have gotten this item months ago!
My one year old son was constantly coming over and opening the disc tray or turning the computer off right when we were in the middle of doing something. I was afraid he was going to snap the disc tray right off. So I purchased this to cover it up and he doesn't even know the buttons are there anymore. Worked like a charm. =)
This product is great at keeping my one year old from getting to the disc drive and other components of my computer. The only downfall is that the power button light still shines through the material so he is still drawn to it and he can still push it if I'm not watching carefully. But that just goes to show that whatever child proofing you have it does not take the place of a watchfull parent.
This keeps my little one from turning off my computer. Its a must have.
When my son began walking he discovered that he could turn on the family computer in my living room. My husband and I decided that we needed something to cover the cpu. This does the job once we attached it to the computer my son has forgotten that the cpu is there.
My son frequently turned off the computer while i was in the middle of using it. This solved the problem. He can no longer see the button, so he has no interest in it anymore. Easy to set up too.
Very easy to install, and after the adhesive set, almost impossible for my 13-month old to peel off (not that she hasn't tried). Once the flashing lights and colored buttons were covered up, her interest in the 2 computers she can reach has disappeared. No more turning the thing off during a defrag! Hooray! The only drawback is, it ought to come in different sizes. On one computer, it only *just* covers up the power button.
I can't get in!

I am really disappointed in this product. The design looked like it would be useful, the reviews all gave me hope...And once it was careful installed my 15 month old didn't bother the power button for a day or two. But that was about it. The material is so thin that he can see the power LED and that led him to do his best to figure out a way around this "guard". Of course, it's so flimsy that once well placed poke, and off goes the computer. Now I'm not sure if he's considered to be a crawler still or toddler, but if your baby has any problem solving skills or determination, this is probably not going to work for you.
