Comments about Prisma Gold Trading Marketing Hearth Cushion:
It is not that bad looking, and it works great.
I am using this product on the brick hearth in front of my fireplace. It was easy to install and definitely softens the hard corners. One thing that isn't so great is that it can easily be pulled off the brick by my 21 month old daughter, but it goes back on easily. I've seen the same product for twice the price in retail stores.
My daughter likes to crawl towards the fireplace and I was afraid she would scrape or hit her head against the blue stone cap/overhang of the hearth. This product gives me peace of mind. The only con is that the blue stone cap is 2" thick and I would have to buy another set to cover the top edges (see picture).

I love that this product actually does provide a safety cushion around our fireplace. It has prevented several "accidents" already. We had a hard time getting it to stick on the brick even after following the installation directions. [...] - now it stays on fairly well.
Has issues actually sticking to the bricks (especially during temperature changes)but overall is better than nothing since my daughter is obsessed with the fireplace bricks.
My husband put it up. Stays well so far!
Does the trick!
Substantial cushioning protection, however, we were doubtful the foam would stick to regular brick and we were right. We followed the instructions exactly, and even added weight for two days, but the stickiness of the adhesive wasn't strong enough to stick to brick, as was advertised. I would not recommend this to anyone who wanted to use it on brick.
As the grandparent of a wobbly toddler, this hearth cushion has been a godsend. No more worries about falling into a stone hearth. He is strong, but has not pulled the cushion off. Easy to put on. Buy it and you have one less thing to worry about!
After our first grandchild bonked his head on the counter top that extended over a kitchen island, I put in the corner guards that use this material. Four G-kids later, it's saved many tender heads and kept their IQ's where they should be.After getting the corner guards, I decided to get this kit to protect the hearth edges, even though no one had ever got hurt. Of course, just a couple of months later, grand daughter number 1 trips and falls right into this cushion on the edge of the hearth. We still had the drama of any 2 year old, but I was expecting to head out to the ER instead of having to look hard to see which cheek she had hit. Excellent save! Not quite as dramatic but just as appreciated, last week I was walking barefoot by the fireplace and not paying attention, I plowed my big toe right into it. Luckily I hit the cushion square on resulting in just a sore toe instead of a nasty bloody one. Another excellent save.
So pleased to finally have my fireplace protected for my active toddler. Easy to install.
So the adhesive doesn't stand up to the little toddlers that like take things apart, BUT if it were any stronger I would be afraid of what it would do to the stone or brick. We aren't going to want the foam on the corner of the fireplace for the rest of our lives. The foam is strong and can't be torn apart. It is cushy, but very protective. Our pad is taken off daily by our boy, but when put back on it stays in place until the next time little hands grab ahold.
I used this product on jagged slate tiles on two separate fireplace hearths. It was easy to install and seemed to mold well to the jagged edges of my hearths. I just recently installed so I don't have any info on durability...my 3yr old and 14 month old haven't tried pulling on them yet. Seem like they are thick and will prevent a nasty cut!
I think that I will have better luck with a fireplace gate than this product. It keeps falling off and the children easily pull it off when they try to pull themselves up.
I wish this product came in other colors (like a dark red) that would blend in better. For those with red brick hearths, the gray is drab and brings attention to the product and the fact that it is there. I am keeping it anyway because it is worth having the protection from head "bonks" for my child.
